Local partners: The Party for Democracy and Progress (CHADEMA)

Project start: 2018

The aim of the partnership is to strengthen participation and influence of women and youth in national and grass root politics as well as in CHADEMA party politics. This is done through the CHADEMA Academy, where future political leaders of CHADEMA have access to training in political leadership, dialogue, and conflict management, which equips them to play their role as decision-makers and political leaders.

Establishing the Academy includes developing training materials and recruiting a team of national party trainers. The partnership also includes exchanges between Tanzania and Denmark, to inspire and empower young political leaders in CHADEMA. There has been a good increase in number of the women and youths’ participation in Party leadership positions and in the number of women and youths’ participation in local government election which basically was induced by the previous trainings
